How to Enter Recovery Mode on Google Pixel 2
Method 1. Using physical buttons to enter recovery mode on Google Pixel 2
- Power off your device by pressing and holding Power button for minutes.
- Now press and hold Volume Down for a few seconds.
When your finger still holding the Volume Down, you need now press and release Power button.
- On the menu that’s showed, go to Recovery using the Volume rocker keys then choose and confirm the option by pressing the Power button.
- After the Android logo is showing up then press Power button for a few seconds.
- When you press the Power button, quickly press and release the Volume Up button.
Method 1a. Using Hardware buttons to enter recovery mode on Google Pixel XL
Step 1. Turn off your device now guys.
Step 2. Now press and hold Volume Down + Power button for a few moments.
Step 3. You will then see Fastboot menu popup. On this menu, use Volume Down or Up to scroll down to Recovery then choose it using Home button.
Method 2. Enter Recovery Mode using ADB on Windows
Step 1. Be sure you have installed USB Drivers / ADB Drivers on Google Pixel 2 XL and your ADB is configured on your PC.
Step 2. Now connect your Google Pixel 2 XL to your computer using the USB cable and install adb drivers if it’s required.
Step 3. Go to the android-sdk-windows\platform-tools directory and then open Command Prompt (Shift + Right click anywhere within the folder -> Open Command Prompt).
Step 4. Now type the command then hit enter.
adb reboot recovery
Step 5. Your device will power off then boot into the Recovery Mode. You will see Android in distress logo, just do step 3 from method 1a. If you succeed then your device will be booted in the recovery mode.
Method 3. Enter Recovery Mode using ADB on Mac OS X
Step 1. Be sure that ADB drivers / USB drivers is installed for Google Pixel 2 XL is installed on your computer.
Step 2. Now plug your Google Pixel 2 XL to your Mac OS computer using a USB data cable.
Step 3. Open the Terminal app on your Mac then type the command below then enter.
/<PATH>/android-sdk-macosx/platform-tools/adb reboot recovery
NOTE. <path> must be the location of your Android SDK. If android-sdk-macosx is in your main user folder, then skip the /<PATH>/ part from the line given above.
Step 4. Your Google Pixel 2 XL will power off, then boot into the Recovery Mode. You will see Android in distress logo, just do the step 3 from method 1a. If you succeed then your device will be booted into the recovery mode.
Method 4. Using root app to enter recovery mode on Google Pixel 2
The alternative method you may try if your device is rooted is using the root app namely Quick Boot that you can download and install on Google Play Store. With this root app you can easily boot into the recovery mode on your Google Pixel 2 device. And the processes are pretty simple guys.
